You can tell it's Rhodesy from the left elbow in the air (and the smoke!) I'm going to try really hard to get him to Blyton this year (as I have every year!) but understand his limitations completely, ditto John Aley.
Looks like they reverted to the centre pipe for that Brands race, usually a side exit as in the first photo for that circuit.

That'd be great. I know he normally only goes to local events near to home nowadays, I'll also speak to Tim and see what happens.

So GPH 3 C was originally an Almond green car (as opposed to grey or white as I believe they normally used...)?

Thanks for posting Pete. The photos sum up Minis in motorsport in the 60's so well. I know because I was spectating at similar events at that time. Some interesting registration numbers as well!

You often hear myths about how Mini panel gaps were all over the place back in the day but I've never really agreed with that , as Harry illustrates on his Vita D car..

Can't remember whether I've posted this link before or not but this collection is huge, has a great search engine, image annotation and has been a constant source of reference for race events, rally events, press shots, you name it. All pretty much pre '66 but some absolute gems here:

I think the A40 in this shot belonged to Bill Shepherd. It was still around until quite recently, I can remember my dad enquiring about it in the garage it was stored.Pete wrote:Anyone recognise the cars?
Mallory club race, 1965 I think, looks like Mary Taylor on the third row (wife of famous team owner Sidney Taylor) in the white car with tell tale Taylor Racing green stripes. Sid ran all manner of sports and formula cars for some famous drivers in the 60's, ended up in F5000 and F1. Mary nearly broke her neck in that Mini!

I had a feeling the A40 was still around aswell, I think there's something on Ten Tenths about it somewhere?

Re: 1960 / 70's Mini Racing Photos
I know most of us have seen these photos of 231 VPK off to Sebring in '65...
..and ex works, hillclimbing (in Italy?)
but I don't recall having seen this shot of how the car started life as an early 997 Cooper...

Re: 1960 / 70's Mini Racing Photos
Interesting shot of Paddy with the boot open! Talking of the '65 RAC has anyone got any unusual photos from that rally that haven't been seen or splattered round the Internet? Just doing an article as its 50 years since Rauno's win on the RAC (only time a Mini ever did) and the European Championship of course!

I'm all for Rally photos but posting them in a "Racing" thread can confuse overseas viewers, who speak languages that use the same terms for both - which is dangerous to the future of the sport in our sometimes strange land.
