Hello all
i have just stripped down a 1275 engine from a vanden plas for a minor refurb and to rectify a gearbox issue.
the questions i have relate to piston rings and bearings.
the pistons have MOWOG stamped across the middle of the crown but also have u20 stamped. Am i to assume these are as we would now call +20 thou rebore?(they also have M2210 stamped in small digits ) if this helps.
my main bearings have -.020 us so assume 20 thou has been ground on the mains and big ends have -.010 thou .
The crank is not to bad so i intend just to replace the bearings and rings but dont ant to get the wrong materials.
While i tap at the keyboard does anyone recommend a good gearbox refurbersher near the surrey and hants border?
i need a few bearings and a check on the syncro as the primary casing bearing has worn through and i bought it as is so dont know the general condition (although it looks ok)
thanks

Re: engine component questions
Worth checking the actual dimensions of the bore and crank journals. For rough measurement to confirm basic sizes the digital vernier calipers are a really cost-effective starting point. You can often find these on offer in Lidl for about £10.
