22G190? or is that the block number?

Sorry....I am not an originality expert, although I used to be (!) and I seem to have forgotten it all.

However, what I do know is that I had a 333 gear box casing once and that that was for the 1275 S.

I agree with Nevs...my June 64 1071 has a 190. By the way, don't you mean "old WIVES tale" LOL!
I don't think they ever fitted a 333 in the 1071...
Now, my Aug 64 970 has a 333 box.

We have a very original late build 1071 at work with a 22G 333 :geek:

I based that remark on a july 64 1071 I have the remains of ...must have been changed to a 333 then....
what does the 10f number mean on the left of the block ,my Q 22g333 has 12f on it?

I think you mean on the flat area gearbox casing? They don't all have the prefix but if it does have one:

9F = 970
10F = 1071
12F = 1275

The number stamped after the above code is not the engine number.

I'd like to see what's stamped on the front. Gearbox are also date stamped on the bottom. Have a look and see if it mid '64.
