brake fluid
I spotted some brake fluid on the garage floor a few days ago and it was leaking from the joint where the rear flexi goes through the subfame and the copper pipe. the flexi was looking a bit old so replaced the two flexis and the copper pipes. it's still leaking!!!
I've tightened the union with about the normal force. help.

Re: brake fluid
Only one thing to do. Swing on it & if it still leaks you will have to replace the metal pipe.

Re: brake fluid
In that case, make sure that the copper pipe is located right at the base of the union & swing on it.

Re: brake fluid
i'm afraid of using too much force.
All you can do is damage either the flexi, the copper pipe or the unions & if they continue to leak you will have to replace one or the other anyway. Go for it, you have nothing to loose.

Re: brake fluid
Your profile is incomplete. If you located in North America, the North American style hard lines will leak if mated to British flexible lines.

Re: brake fluid
Presumably it must be the standard for the flare on the pipe end?
I sure you can get a set of Automec ones posted over

Re: brake fluid
sometimes you have to nip them harder than you think is right to be able to 'form' the flare on the copper pipe into the flexy hose, particularly if the flare hasn't formed quite right.
