I'm going to fit a mk1 switch panel to my '82 mini, So I'm going to weld in a plate into the dashrail. Would anyone be able to take a photo of theirs with a ruler across it so I can get the dimensions and to print it out to scale?

Here you go, the 32mm dimension varies a bit along the slot. I'm sure M-Machine do a panel to do this.
