In 68 they did the championship together with BMC. Perhaps Lucas payed to use their injection or something like this. Some things will never change.

This cylinder head and fuel injection was bought by "Nenu" he used to race minis in the 60's, once he told me that he came over by aeroplane bought these items and brought them to Malta in the luggage, in those days
couriers were unheard of in Malta :-)
In the 60's racing was done in the streets, without the authoritry blessing  traffic was very rare :D and the minis had a lot of following, one guy who posts here as John Bull even competed in the Targa Florio if I'm not wrong.

One of the downsides to TJ was starting the bugger according to Harry. Jim Barham did a lot of work on those heads aswell, is that what's referred to as a Heron head? I do recall a race when Handley first tried one out. Great find, be interesting to hear if there's markings on the head? BVRT supplied lots of similar engines/set ups to that to all sorts of people, Chris Cramer being one well know hillclimber, plenty of rallycross and race engines etc (Rod Blanchard told me he had one off them) but you don't see many about now!

In 1969 at the Nürburgring, I just got my driving licence, all BVRT minis had Lucas injections. Of course I don't know the details of the rest of the year as well as why using this and not the other one.
