Lovely van. Like the chrome headed bolts through the top of the B pillar for the top seatbelt mount. They were included in special 3rd party seat belt kits for Minis that had no built in mounting points. Originally the fuel cap would have been painted and vans were only fitted with one wing mirror as standard. Most people added the second one. No carpets but rubber mat. Great fun to drive back then.

A new V5 was issued for it a couple of years ago, so it should still be "live" shouldn't it?

Purchasing a set of steel caps from swiftune plus the cost of good line boring will prove a shock to your wallet!

I don’t really care what people do with these old logbooks, you pays your money and you takes your chances but judging by the asking prices these are clearly being used to make into cars. I can see why people do it, especially if your building a racer but lots of logbooks have been appearing on EBay recently that have clearly been altered and overwritten. Just sayin. Bit of a gamble.

I don’t see the point in altering that particular book as it can’t be presented to DVLA as any sort of proof of existence when it is quite clearly stamped as a previously damaged total loss.

It’d have virtually zero value if a buyer thought that was the case, it sold for £250 so clearly somebody thinks they can do something with it. All the logbooks listed in the last few months by that seller have been altered.

I have had this done. It cost an extra £700 to machine the thrust surfaces in apparently🙄
This was on top of the line boring and initial £300 for caps and bolts. Does that sound about right?

These days i will be be paying a "proper" engine machine shop £95 per hour +vat .. maybe this is the going rate in UK because if the company is any good they are stacked out with work & have to pay their energy costs

I honestly can't imagine how these doctored log books have any value whatsoever.

Think mine was 1800, that was to drill the extra two hole for centre main, we also had to move the crank up toward the deck as it had suffered a nasty on the centre main. Line bore and hone and thrust faces machined. It is not an easy job to get spot on and I wouldn't be trusting just any old engineering shop to do it, ideally one that has done them before. Also had an overbore, cam bearings and just faced the block, drill out/tap the gearbox bolt holes and tap oil gallery holes to accommodate brass tapered cap inserts, so easy to remove to clean in event of a rebuild. Obviously the latter stuff is on top of the line boring etc price
