NUMBER PLATES!!!

Post by chichestermini »

Who actually makes number plates really nicely and in an authentic way like these today?

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii16 ... et/fh4.jpg (slowboy i hope you don't mind me using your image! ;) )

The characters need to be exactly like this and on a plate that has rounded edges and isn't just a 'flat' plate, so it curves over all around?

(hope that makes sense, i'm confusing myself here  )

Thank you very much in advance!!!

P.S. car is a genuine mk1

I'm not sure if the ones that clear the raised pressing are generally available these days.

Original Bluemels ones turn up from time to time on ebay - I think one sold for about £50 a year or so back. The rear Bluemels plates have a cut out in the bottom edge to clear the number plate light

Framptons have a large range of options. The service is good and quick.

Apologies for the belated reply,

Thank you to all who have responded, these look like good companies i was just wondering if anybody has had any experience of any of them?

I want a plate styled as closely to a "Bluemels" look as possible, being black background with no beveled edge and white or silver letters. I just can't quite see an accuracy in the font on some of these websites, surely there is someone using perhaps NOS letters or using the old tooling to produce something of this type that was and still is so popular?

Once again, thanks for all of your time it is very much appreciated! :D

You will find it virtually impossible to replicate the 'old Bluemels' look, in my experience. Assuming you want three and a half-inch characters and not three and an eighth (pre 1963), the ones you buy new, although raised, all have a flat face, the original ones would have come to a peak. The only new ones that seem correct are the polished alloy ones.
It seems even NOS have been impossible for years. Good second hand seems the only route - and that has now become near impossible!

Tippers "Gothic" aluminium numbers are closest to the original Bluemels number as you will get, but be prepared to get charged a FORTUNE for them.
