Pretty much the same sorry state as AKY was! They are definitely more interesting that way! Lovely Surf Blue Morris. It would look great in my garage.

Back to topic, but feel free to hijack about HOY's sister
With the bulkhead screwed and bolted into place, I've now made a start to fit the n/s inner wing assembly I bought from our friend in Spain.
So far, so good...everything has lined up with almost no effort, just a small tap to get it to fit around the 'n' shape pressing below the shock mount. All seems to line up. The Mini Machine A panel/door pillar fits on well - holes line up and seems to line up with outer sill as well.
Early days I know. I'll fit the subframe at the weekend once back from the blasters and will then fit the o/s inner wing.
All alterations to the inner wings to Mk1 spec will be made once it comes apart prior to final assembly & welding.

Not sure if you have thought about it, but if you want to spot weld the outer a panel to the return lip on the inner wing as per original, use a hole saw to put some holes on the inner a post panel to get electrodes through, then fit a new inner panel afterwards, it’s how I did mine, although as it was a heritage panel I had to alter the return lip due to shape being incorrect.

I hadn’t thought that far Darren but thanks for posting and for the pic.
The inner A post closing panels are being replaced anyway so I’m thinking I should be able to achieve that (without looking at the panels).

Re: My new project - 1965 Morris Cooper S - HOY 500D
Cut off the drivers A panel and pillar tonight to first fix the new inner wing into place.
Unbelievably, despite how bad the car is (was) , the drivers A panel still clearly shows the spot welds that Darren posted up about yesterday.
So being completely OTT about it, I have measured where the welds are and will replicate them on the new panels

Amazing how even the factory couldn’t spot weld where the shelf was, think I am a couple short compared to on your original panel, but mine had all been cut out before so I was guessing where to put them. It’s one of those little things most people don’t notice but in your own mind you know it is done right, not sure how many people are as bothered as we are, but at least it makes us feel better in a strange type of way.

Re: My new project - 1965 Morris Cooper S - HOY 500D
It's the first Mini I've had that I have had to cut such an original but rotten panel assembly out and have never noticed them before.
I think apart from the fibreglass front end, HOY was pretty much untouched bodily and didn't find any traces of patch welding on what was left of it !
As you say, nice to have the detailing of such areas correct.

Re: My new project - 1965 Morris Cooper S - HOY 500D
If you are brave enough fully cut out the inner a post as I did, I only suggested a hole saw because it sounds safer, mine didn’t move at all

I probably could, because although the brace frame is welded to the inner post, the post is, at best, attached to the body at one end only and is therefore doing bugger all in reality !!
Again, thanks for posting the pic up.
