Hi Nick here, new to the forum so I hope this is the right place..

I've recently purchased a Halda Speedpilot for my Mk2 mini.

it appears that almost all of the controls work.

I can reset the odometer, change the average speed, set the clock and wind the clock.

However the clock doesn't seem to run. I'm assuming it should just run if wound and doesn't need to be started in anyway shape or form. Any tips on springing it back into life? I don't want to over wind it.

The electrical connection on the back I assume is a bulb circuit? If not then its not going to be much use on a nightime 12 car rally!
Does anyone know where I can get a speedo drive splitter for a sensible price? i'm pretty certain its got a 1/8 reducer drive on it so it should take a direct speedo rate drive.

Nick i have now had 2 of these in my mark 1 and both times the clock has failed.
I have yet to find anyone that can fix them although there are 2 possibilities.
If you open the case you may be able to get some clock oil in and with a nudge it might work if it has not been damaged.
Also are you sure you are winding it correctly .
I cant remember if its the speedpilot or my stopwatch that winds backwards.
I also have a few angle boxes and cables.i know there are 2 different ends one threaded the other uses a circlip.
I will see what i have over the weekend and let you know.

well have had my mini out today and can confirm the speed pilot does wind up the normal clockwise way.
regarding the spare s I have here goes
1 x 800mm cable .with circlip type ends (no circlips though)
1 x 700mm cable with circlip type ends (no circlips though)
1 x 90 degree angle, 1 end circlip (c/w circlip) and the other end a course thread about 16mm across but unsure of the thread pattern
1 x Halda part no.V60 N tee piece 1-1 ratio with circlip ends in and out with a small thread (about 12mm across fine thread ) coming off at 90 degrees
1 x Halda part no V12 with an 8-1 ratio tee piece. All ends are threaded, 1 end is the same as the 12mm but behind it is a thread approx. 15mm (I guess it allows 2 different options), 1 end looks like a reverse thread of the 12mm above and on the 90 degree it is the large (16mm) course thread as above
if you feel any of these may be some use let me know and I will try and confirm better details.

Old thread resurrection....did this clock issue ever get resolved? I recently got my hands on a MkIV Speedpilot. I've wound up the clock quite a bit - scared to wind it further - and you can hear it tick away for a short while and then stop. Shake it and the process repeats itself. I'd be happy to hear from people who have got theirs to work. Thanks

Speed pilot still awaiting fixing. Full service can be done for circa £300 at autochron. This apparently will make it all work tip top again..
