heres some pictures of my newest purchase.

laugh away!

ive always wanted a early mark one that had a plate marker that reflected the area im from, but they dont turn up that often. i have the choice of 'KH', 'RH' or 'AT', 'AT' been the best as this was used in the town i was born and the area my family still live.

i wasnt really looking for another project, but spotted this on retro rides and quite liked it. a reasonable amount of folding later and my pink trailer gets its first trip out!

its been stood since 1981 and will need a bit to get it usable, but im hoping to do the stuff thats needed for an mot, but keep all the period bits and bobs including the all important 'tc' badge warning other motorists that it (doesnt) have twin carbs :lol:

according to the seller the car had rally history, its certainly been built to look the part!

the sellers father bought the car in 1974 (with all the mods ready fitted, so its proper period stuff), all he did was remove the twin carbs as it was too nippy for his wife and a few odd jobs and general maintainence.

id also guess that at sometime it had a pair of buckets, but these have been swopped for the early front seats

the marina conection?

this is a good one, the sellers father worked for wilmet breedon and his main claim to fame was that he designed the marina door handle - the one thats used on just about everything in the 1970's (and my GTM). unfortunatly he didnt get a royalty payment on every one sold!!

very nice, but disapointingly 'ordinary'

that's quiet a collection of accessories though. the front end lacks a little 'definition'! :D

as you mentioned, best to leave it unrestored as a fine example of the early '70s customisers 'art'

al, your only mad because it wasnt a stimpson scorcher! :lol:

the accessories are great, its like its been covered in hot glue and rammed through a car accessory shop window in about 1968 - the seller was a little bemused as to why i was so chuffed with it!

just wait, hand painted speed stripes will be every where this time next year!

the front end is odd, its very 'jelly mould' shaped and everything just isnt right - you cant quite see the little twagger brackets that have ben made to hold the overiders on.

i will be loosing those vile front arches though, they genuinely offend me, in fact, they have already 'fallen off'

I know what you mean about the front arches though. are they made of blutac? or was that just the mould?

Thats a show case of every piece of accessory you found at the back of 60s issue CCC!
I got the remote change myself but I'd never had the chance to fit it on car, please tell me what it like when using it later, was it comparable to Cooper remote?
Is the front end steel or fiberglass? It was so.....smooth!
Nice find! Comparable to Mark's Speedwell I think! :mrgreen:

Talk about curve balls ! :lol:

I'm liking the TC, is the TC a Yorkshire reference..as in Tight C... :shock: :lol: ?!! Most Minis looked something like that once in their life before Heritage Certificates were even heard of, have to say though the jury's still out on the pink trailer. :?

I guessed that it was the doorhandles! the Marinas claim to fame! I think they were also used on range rovers ( as well as every kit car ever made!)

Saltofix panel i have not seen one of them for many a year, i bet it fits where it touches lol

TC badge a nice touch, straight of a p6 i would say.

Rich,

Great find! And not that "bad" looking either! I think if it had different wheel arches (or no ectentions) it would look great given "some" TLC.

Have you driven it yet? How does the SPQR gearlinkage feel? Working good?

Any chance you could make a mould of the GRP-cover? I bought a kit some time ago, but am lacking the cover.

certainly not.

it will be at stanford hall next year in the 'mk1 competition' section of the concours. no mirrored floor or red rope required!

ed, id already thought about making a grp mould of the cover as they are the sort of thing that gets lost / broken

the gear lever actually feels very good (far better than i thought it would), different to a remote - more like a magic wand but positive (if you see what i mean) it actually feels like it might be a useful thing.

it doesnt start, so ive no idea how it drives - the only electrical thing that worked as the right hand indicator :lol:
