Hello all, just to say hi, as it's my first post. Like the forum a lot, very knowledgeable. I'm retired and am looking for a good early mk1 Mini in original or restored condition. Well and a Shorrock charger and kit ( I know, I know).

Hello, good to meet you, it's true there is a lot of knowledge on here, I've been involved with Classic Minis for over 40 years & I never stop learning! Shorrock kit eh? There's nothing at all wrong with ambition

Do you want the Shorrock because it's "period", or do you just want a blower, because if the latter is the case, then a modern Rotrex is a quarter of the weight, a quarter of the bulk, and 4 times more efficient. Got one in my son's single seater.
Like you, I've been into Minis a few years, 50 years this month to be precise. Great little cars.

Yes the short answer is because it's in period. I have a 1965 Cortina mk1 which looks like a standard 1963 Lotus Cortina. Built by me over a 4 year period, 2 litre Zetec, 5 speed box etc. Nothing original left bar the shell ( which is modified ). It's a hoot, but I'm thinking I want to keep the Mini all in period. Agree the Shorrock is an antique, but then so is the A series !
I'm looking for a top quality standard 60 to 63 mk1 Mini, no doubt it will have been restored. I don't want a project, had enough of that, just want to tinker and play.
I we'll remember as a lad seeing ads for Shorrocks in the mags, want to recreate a bit of that I suppose.
My feeling is that the blowers come up from time to time, but the bits to fit........
We'll see.

I have a flat shell 60 cherry red Morris, seen by many at Blyton recently. It's currently being put back together at Race and Resto. Not cheap but pretty looking car.

Welcome ! I am also relatively new here. Compared to those above, I am also new to Mini ownership. Next month only marks the 14th anniversary of when I bought my car as a project.

Hi all, thanks for the welcomes. The last Mini I had was about 40 years ago. Bit rusty ( me, not the car).
I mentioned my mk1 Cortina. If I've done it right here's a pic.
