Would a 68/69 cooper s have thin or thick flange block?

Post by pad4 »

Just wondering if a 68/69 S would have a thin or thick flange block - I guess thin flange but you never know.

Cheers

I think the change point is late 68 but have been told the works cars had them on 68 monte.

There are several different casting / machining variations on them :ugeek:

Although I am not certain about it, I am lead to believe that the changeover to the thick flange block coincided with the change to the 4- synchro boxes (about October 1968). Nevertheless, the thick flange blocks may have been introduced earlier, but all original untouched 4-synchro based engines that I have seen had thick flange blocks.
Too many cars...

In Australia the change was in Apr/May 1969 with the move from the 9FSAY/3-synchro to the 9FXEY/4-synchro.
