Trackday Brake pads

Right then folks, after Blyton I realised my pads aren't up to much when being used very hard.
What were other people using as mine disappeared twice and I had to pull into the pits.
It is mainly used on the road with a track day being a rarity and maybe the odd sprint/hillclimb thrown in.

Yeah, I never quite mastered that last corner! I got it sweet a few times but wasn't braking enough before it for the majority of the time!
In terms of what is in now, it has minisport 4 pots, non vented and mintex pads

Carbon Lorraine pads are incredible. I know they come in 3 different compounds for Cooper S callipers, depending on application, but not sure about the 4-pots.

I used Carbon Metallics (Mintex) and they are excellent both on the road and on the track , had no problems pulling my rather heavy rally car up -on the road, just get a bit of heat in them first

Yep, carbon metallics are spot on. Just keep on top of cleaning the dust off.

I was using carbon metallics on Sunday, they heat up pretty quick and in fact due to the heavy brakig at Blyton I frazzled the brakes.

+1 for carbon mets (although I'm running S-discs).
I managed 5 corners at Cadwell on Mintex's last year before they were toast.
The MiniSpares Carbon Met's were great at Blyton, although the pedal went long a couple of times so new fluid required...........

I can't vouch for the road performance but the Carbon Mets will get you through at least a 60 minute Appendix K mini endurance race and a 30 minute practice session to boot. They seem pretty indestructible to me.
Now someone will tell me I'm not braking hard enough !!!!

You used Greenstuff - brave man , last time i tried them i managed about 15 mile of bedding in , noticed something was wrong , checked the pads and there were chunks falling off them.

Do you run a booster with them?

What brake fluid do you run? There are some higher boiling point ones around.expensive though for some . it sounds like your brake pads are working fine, maybe too well, turning all that burnt off speed into heat? Keeping everything as clean as possible assists heat transfer but some set ups seem to hold heat....(rims?, arches? theories only .. but for the relatively small surface area in a mini brake disc,, do 4 rotors end up acting as a heat source rather than a heat sink? In track conditions cerametallic with standard old 7.5 discs seem to keep on stopping?

No I didn't fit a booster, I've never bothered with any of my Minis.
