yep, 'bargains' very quickly become expensive by the time you add it all on.
We've had 8 ports bits from Steve in the past, would've liked to see his turbo install completed.

they have to charge vat on the premium as its a service / same as anything you buy (books/food etc not included!)

Well, after having finally found a browser that would open the catalogue as Firefox wouldn't. I can't say I am exactly bowled over by either the quality of stuff on offer or indeed the lacklustre catalogue that the Auctioneers have put together, very few pics at all, short almost meaningless descriptions, you can't even download a copy of the catalogue. There are certainly not going to be a huge number of absentee bidders as anyone not at the auction has no idea what they could be bidding on.
I wish Steve the very best for his retirement, but feel the aucton of his stuff could have been handled a lot better.

Lot 342
A 1962 Morris Mini Minor, registration number TFK 446, Fiesta yellow. This charming early survivor from the third year of full production has been in the same family ownership from 1979 and has covered a believed 74,000 miles from new. Steve Harris acquired the Mini in 1987 with the intention of preparing the car as an 18th birthday present for his daughter (she was ten at the time). During the sympathetic refurbishment, retaining the originality of the car was paramount and approximately 85% of the car is original. For piece of mind, the engine has been overhauled and re-bored with new parts as necessary, likewise the body has had localised repairs. Primrose, as she is affectionately known, has been prepared to a high standard by Steve and now awaits a caring new owner to cherish and enjoy her. Heritage certificate, V5C, MOT to April 2015, tax exempt.
Estimate: 4,500 GBP - 6,500 GBP

Lot 341
A 1963 Mini Cooper S Steve Harris Motorsport Arden 8 Port Minispares Supported Project Car, blue. This 1963 Mini was owned by the late Philip Button, who in 1975 commissioned Ian Briggs to build it into a lightweight Special Saloon rolling shell, but in 1977 Philip abandoned the project due to rising costs & the unfinished shell returned to Philip's home in Holcombe where is lay until his death approximately 15 years ago.......
Estimate: 10,000 GBP - 12,000 GBP

Please, please tell me that lot 341 went for a shed load of money!
We would love to have had the chance to purchase the 8 port turbo bits.

Yes, I was there. A fair amount of the stuff went very cheaply if you had need of it.

AFAIK lot 341 didn't sell.

No 341 didn't sell although to be honest it wasn't quite as nice as I though it might be.
I thought the semi down draught head was interesting and I'm really annoyed I didn't bid higher on the 970 16V engine. That said I think our Skoda might have bottomed out if we had to squeeze any more into it.

I think the S got bid to £5k but I didn't think it sold, maybe it was agreed after the auction?
Tupers, you weren't the chap stood next to me with his wife/girlfriend were you?
He seemed to buy most of it (and for the right money!)
I was happy with my purchase anyway!
