Ex-Works Unipower GT Refresh

For those who have an interest in the Unipower GT, what was intended to be just a paint refresh of my ex-Works Unipower GT over this winter, ended up being a total refresh of the whole car including mechanicals, which with hindsight was probably the right thing to have done anyway. So after 38 years of ownership over which time I've raced it in Modsports, HSCC Championships and its taken part in a number of Le Mans Legends events as well as assorted international circuit Grand Prix recreation events, its looking fresh again but hopefully keeping much of its period patina, especially inside, under that new paint job.

With all these great cars going to Blyton there's going to be a serious amount of juggling track time and paddock time going on

That is one fantastic looking car, as they say the devil is in the detail and that is one little devil.
Could you tell me what the colour is please, I know its yellow, I'll get that in before all the smart answers......

Hi,
The colour is Ford Golden Yellow and is now the correct tint for its original colour.

Well the car completed its post re-fresh shakedown at Good wood last Saturday. All went very well with only a minor issue with a gear change U/J bolt coming slightly loose due to having been painted. Re-tightened and all ok again. There were quite a few unknowns as it has had new rose joints/shocks/springs/tyres, but handling was probably the best I've ever known it. However I had spent quite some time doing a proper suspension setup and the new tyres worked really well. Engine was also spot on and well worth the dyno setup on my old friend Nick Swift's rig.
For various reasons, I will not now be coming to Blyton Park, so hopefully the attached pictures will give some idea of the car in action. It's going to be used only for participation in Historic/Classic events from now on and so is unlikely to be raced in anger again, although if I get that elusive entry for the Goodwood Revival, then who knows. Its file has been with them for a few years now !!. As I won its class at the Brighton Speed Trials five years running with it back in the 80's maybe that's a possability, but they increased the class engine size the following year, so now it would be just for fun.
Well I think that's it for updates on my cars re-fresh, so thank you all for your kind comments on an example of what is a very special marque that has a unique place in motoring history for many reasons.

I'm very sorry that you have decided that you won't be coming to Blyton Gerry as I know a lot of people both on here & not on here were looking forward to seeing it & you in action, but that's the problem with a small friendly event of the sort that Pete & I are aiming for. We are 100% dependent on those people who will bring their cars to have some fun & for other people to admire.
Hopefully you will reconsider some time in the future, as the 2nd MK1 Action Day is already in the early stages of planning.
All the best,
Mark

Yes, that is a real shame as it would've been one of the star attractions

Agreed a real shame, the pictures look great, but would have been better to have seen it in the flesh!
Maybe next time then?
