HSCC Season Opener Donington Pictures

I took at trip down for the HSCC Season Opener and to give Tim Harber a bit of support. The promised rain never showed up which was good for the spectators but not for the Minis. For a bit of variety a few of the Class B Guards Trophy Sports cars joined in with the Touring car.
The usual class D suspects of Harber, Godfrey, Flynn and Morgan were out along with Masters driver Steve Jones and new boy Tom Westley in Appendix K. Practice was on a slightly damp track with Godfrey setting best time for the Minis. Peter Morgan suffered clutch problems and Tim Harber had a bit of rough running.
In the race Rodger Godfrey was untouchable, Harber and Morgan had a bit of a battle before Tim went onto to three cylinders. Peter Morgan almost got to the end but on the final lap the engine developed a problem which I'm told was as a push rod problem. Steve Jones eventually passed Tim Harber. Tom Westley had a near miss went the Imp of Simon Benoy spun in front of him and Colin Flynn spent the race dicing with the Porsche 911 of Jim Cambell.
Here's a couple of shot from practice taken from the pit entry grandstand. For some reason the infield was closed to spectators on Sunday. I guess it was to do with them finally getting round to landscaping the bank that over looks Starkys.
