Upper limits of 970s stuff.

Sorry for all the questions of late guys, just seems my build is gathering momentum at present and this is one of the most knowledgable forums out there.
After buying my 970 bottom end, I got much more than I bargained for so its put me a few steps ahead which is great. My original plan was to build an engine from the crank upwards using longer custom rods, a set of good pistons and then the 16v head I've been wanting to fit. Being assured by a few people that the 970 crank is good for around the 10-11,000rpm range, that spec seemed about on track for my 120hp goal. However, not expecting to literally be given a set of balanced 970 rods and a set of Omega 1003/7 pistons to suit, I'm not sure if I should work with what Ive got or carry on with the original plan.
Will 970s rods be good for my proposed rpm range and will the pistons be ok should they be the cast Omega type? I'm not a snob so I'd rather spend money where needed and get it working well.
Thanks for any help.
