Had a look through ebay , classic mini parts . It gets worse . There's 7 pages of bulbs . 4 pages of synthetic oil , then you get on to the page after page of wood and picket Chinese parts .

I know what you mean Swifty.

In my saved search field of BMC / Mini / Cooper, I have around 40 keywords excluded just to try to filter out as much of the crap and dross as possible and still there's all sorts of rubbish coming up.

Putting in the search for 'classic car parts only' does get rid of a lot of stuff but you run the risk of missing items where the seller does not put them in that category, as its easily missed.

I'd like to be able to filter out sellers as well as certain items but that does not seem possible.

This drives me absolutely mad, especially as my computer is a bit long in the tooth and rather slow. I too have started using auction only but it does mean missing out on anything listed as a "buy it now". There should be a way of blocking certain sellers but the list would be very long!

Also choosing "used" parts only, filters out loads of junk.

I often forget to check the 'classic car part' box when I list things.... so its easily done...

Putting classic mini in front of what you're looking for helps, but again, not everyone does it, and there is always brake pads etc that come up...

sigh...

If you click on "advanced", which is just to the right of the search button, there is an option in there to just see listings from non-business registered listers'. This gets rid of all the listings from W&P, Mini Its etc. If you also stick in a few key words (-BMW, -R50) you can also get rid of all the new MINI stuff.

That's a great bit of information Surf, didn't realise you could filter out business sellers.

That has just reduced my normal saved search field down from 10,000 items to 1,400 !!!!

:D :D

When a seller describes something as VERY RARE. Makes me think twice

Using the eBay app on my iphone makes filtering my saved searches easyeir than the PC. The best & less time consuming way to sell items too.

I never remember what I have bought, just the ones that got away! A badly listed bare 77 Clubman auto shell sitting on 10' wolfraces with the W&P sliding electric metal sunroof for £375 I didnt bid correctly on, still hurts bad!
