Hi all.
As a new member, I thought I should add some more mk1 porn to your great collection.
The car's a 63 Austin that I've owned for nearly 20 years.. finally sorted and getting some use out of it!
I stripped it to a shell and rebuilt it mid 90s but the engine and box were only built 2012.
Hoping to get it to Blyton!
Luke.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

That is a gorgeous '63'! Mine is also an Austin of the same year in Almond Green running a 1293.

Fantastic stuff!

Cheers. Tim

Hi and welcome!
Lots of '63's about evidently, mine's a Morris in Surf Blue / Old English White with a bog standard 850.

Love your car, very period mods :P

Lovely car Luke! Is that a 'floor start' button mounted under the dash rail on the driver's side...? Cracking idea if it is... ;)

Thanks! Yes it's just a floor start button, I presumed that was what they did on the works cars but i'm probably wrong! Works well though!

Thanks Tim.
1963 must have been a good year, there seems to be quite a few left.

You may not be joking there. January 1963 was the coldest since 1814! Even the sea froze in '63 see attached pics! Also a picture of Police mk1s in 1963!
If they thought the weather was set to continue they might have double dipped them so they would last more than a year!

It's a sportex, I've taken it off for the moment, I thought it may be too loud for Castle Combe so I put a RC40 on but I might put it back on or get a works type one from Somerford

Now I understand that line "Life in a Northern Town".
"In winter 1963
It felt like the world would freeze
With John F. Kennedy and the Beatles"
