'67 Cooper S brake pipe routing?

Gentlemen,
I'm working on the various lines (pipes?) from front to back today. I'm unsure if the brake line should be shaped to go through a clip that resides on the underside edge of the steering rack bracket, located on the toe board. Can anyone tell me the proper way to route this? I've attached a photo with an arrow to the clip I mention.
Disclaimer: The shell was quite rotten and required several donor parts to complete. I've no idea if the clip in question was standard on all models - or only some. The brake pipes on my car were probably not original, so the various bends might have been done creatively to keep the car on the road.
Thank you in advance,
Chris
