Thought some of you might like to see this, it was my Sons first Christmas, so rather than go and buy something that would end up being lost amongst his other toys from the family we decided to get him an original 60's pedal car to grow in to, top of the list was a Leeway MK1 Mini though I didn't think we would get one, fortunately for me we did :D , so after figuring out how best to repair it we set about turning it from the car in the top photos to the 1071 S (got to be a 1071 as it's single tanked and had Monte Carlo stickers on it :P ) in the bottom photo

Just brilliant! Looks like you've done a great job! 8-) :D I remember seeing that on Ebay not so long ago. And another a few years back. Trouble is by the time another one comes up my kids will probably be too big to fit in it!

So do you have any more photos of the resto? And how (or) did you repair the creases in the plastic?

Cheers,

Chris

The only photos I took were of the chassis so I had a record of how it went back together, it is the original shell

The fix involved lots of gental heating whilst the body was still on the chassis, we then bonded alloy plate to the inside of the body so that the outer plastic would retain it's shape, this was also done were there were splits in the shell to give it a bit more support, once it was all straight the body came off alonge with the wheels and tyres ect, then it was just a case of getting the rust off and painting everything back to MK1 spec (I wasn't going for an original look as the car is a copy of my 1071), I used a contact to have the badges made from photos of the real ones to finish it off.

I don't think that one will be saveable, not without a 'change of base unit'
