ive seen them before, I guess the maker just dropped a speedwell badge into the top of the mould
they don't look very decent quality, but are nice enough

There are a lot in that style in Australia, with different things cast into the top of them, but I've never seen one with a Speedwell badge on it. The ones I have aren't quite as rough as that one, but they still aren't a really high quality casting.

oh, I like them, they are pretty looking thing all right, its just the speedwell bit has lost so much definition as it wasn't really designed as a 'plug' to be yanked cleanly out of a sand cast!

Yes made here in NZ I think - have had a couple but never used them as the Speedwell badge is upside down on a Mini. Might have been made for a Morrie Grinder?
We had a fairly keen Speedwell agent here and there were lots of gauges and badges around at one time. Badges were usually in their orig plastic pack. But I think these rocker covers were just a local casting company. You could get plain ribbed ones as well.

I agree with the above, these are definitely originating in NZ. M
