Hi all .

Anyone know whether Corbeau seat side mounts will bolt to the flat section of the floor pan and still allow a Corbeau Revolution seat , the one with the wrap round headrest to have some clearance from rollcage , B-post , mk1 doors and companion boxes ? Or is it a case of using the outer side mount and fabricating a inner mount that is attached to the exhaust tunnel and not the floor . Would that be a no no fabricating the inner mount as described ?
Comparing seat dimensions in the Corbeau range many are similar . I am 5ft 8 so the seat mounting position does not need to allow legroom for a 6 footer .

I realise a seat mounting bar can be fabricated or purchased as well . Would like to know about the seat side mounts anyway.

Also not sure whether to buy a second hand seat or buy new . Obviously second hand it could be out of date but is that a issue for a track day car or one that could potentially be used
(when I can afford it) in local club events ? Some people do not mind buying used composite seats , I am wondering whether a seat is similar to a bike crash helmet or kids car seat in as much if it had been involved in a accident and was not obviously damaged is it still best to avoid using it because it could be damaged . The next question is whether it is best to avoid buying these items used because you do not know the history ?

In a nut shell no the seat needs to come up off the floor and over towards the tunnel

But you really really dont want to be bolting seat mounts to a mini floor - thats a big no no no NO

Second hand seats can be ok - but look where the mountings are for ANY signs of stress, rough treatment etc , find out some history of the car there from, ie you dont want them out of a well used rally car.

If youre gonna buy new - Motordrive seats will fit side by side, in the right place and are far comfier than the others

Think of it this way

If you have an off on a trackday or an accident and your seat rips out of the floor - your harness will kill you...

Food for thought - its the only thing keeping you where you need to be kept

Pads entirely right about the mountings they need to be as strong as you reasonably can and mounting to the floor simply isn't enough.
As for the seat sizings its a real minefield, I found the only way to get one to fit was choose one with a wraparound as they seem slightly narrower across the shoulders but also had a plus size one as the majority are designed for skinny whippets not chunky northern blokes. My hips just wouldn't reduce in size to get into the first ones I tried

Yeah your not wrong there , mine is a 1960 shell and does not have the thickest of floors .
Would need some decent plate adding .

I reckon buying a new seat is the way to go , cannot go wrong then .

Found a pic of Endaf Owens historic in similar colour to mine , this is what I need to do . He uses a revolution seat , in fact he was selling a unused one a while back at a really good price but I missed out on it .
