A very young Mini fanatic neighbour of mine has asked me what the biggest capacity has been achieved from an A-series. Front wheel drive or otherwise.
I read somewhere recently that 1630cc was achieved from a 1275cc block...
It used 74.7mm Triumph 2.5 pistons and a 93mm stroke crank.
I am not sure if this is the record? I have a funny feeling that someone
has made one even bigger than this... 1660cc rings a bell?
If you are talking about the smaller 1098cc block, the largest sensible
size you could get from these was about 1250cc, using Hillman Imp +0.040"
pistons.
