Just fitted this to my mini after re-finding it the other day.

Made by desmo, and a little strange you may think, it holds a selection of old coins.

The idea was it would keep your change in a known place for when you had to pay for parking. Even found a 1967 coin, which is the year of my mk1.

Originally my granddad has this in his A35 and I remember playing with it as a kid, being fascinated with sliding the coins in and out.

My granddad is not longer with us, but now there is a little reminder of him, every time i drive the mk1, that is what makes it a "special" gear knob it me :-)

That is a very nice accessory.

In the 60's "Parking Meters" were a comparatively new thing and there were a whole plethora of different devices & novelties to hold meter change, this is one of the better ones.

How do you get the lower coins out? They look like a pretty tight fit.

Cool knob!!!

I glued a six pence to the top of my KAD quick shift knob. Fit perfectly.

It'd be spring loaded, you can see the slot in the side. You slide the coins out with your thumb, like an ordinary change holder.
