Gents,

I have a Longman head that was purchased by it's original owner from Seven Enterprises here in the states in about 1986. The original invoice noted it was a GT7. The three stamped numbers on the head read 2663, also 21.4 and then .45

Are any Longman experts out there who can educate me as to what I have?

Best Regards,

Chris

I have what I believe is a GT7 type head from 1993 if its any interest. Sadly I'm not an expert but I can show you the head and numbers on it. The head was fitted to an Avonbar 1380 built in 93, I believe they used Longman heads.
Its only a 9 stud as is the Avonbar prepared block it was sat on. Valve guides are a bit worn so the seats have suffered but they were I think 3 angle on the inlet.
Valves are approx. 36mm inlet, 31mm exhaust with hardened inserts for ex.
Here's the pics

Sorry forgot to say... I could be very wrong here but I think the first four digit number is a production number and the second is the volume of the combustion chambers. Yours being 21.4cc mine being 20.0cc. No idea what your third number is, my head doesn't have that.

45 thou skim... Ah yes of course, that makes sense.
Chris, have you got any other pictures of your longman GT7 head? I'd be interested to see the shape of the combustion chambers, do they look the same as the type in my cylinder head?

Ollie, Rich,

Ollie, sorry, I haven't torn it down yet. Give me a couple of weeks...

Thanks Rich, the .45 number hopefully is only 45 thou... ;)

Chris
