Evening all, as the title says I'm have problems with my rear brakes binding to the extent of the drums getting to hot to touch after a 10 mile stop start city journey. They tend to free up abit after awhile but as soon I hit the brakes they start to bind again. I,ve had the drums apart and cleaned everything and all is working okay, with nothing seized. Had the master cylinder apart and all was fine, had a rebuild kit but didn't need it as the cylinder doesn't look that old and the rubbers were like new and functioning fine.
I,m thinking about the brake pressure regulator on the rear subframe but have never had problems or dealings with one so I,m not sure if this is a symptom of one failing,
Any ideas to help me cure the problem before the cold weather arrives,it's my daily driver !

Havent had a pressure regulater failing , but I would also check the brake hoses ?

These can "collapse" inside, and cause a problem like the one you have.

Thanks for your reply Jens, I think you,ve got it bang on with the flexi pipes.will replace them this weekend. They are the old " herringbone type" and I had to replace the same one on the clutch that was of the same vintage and was knackered inside, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction cheers Tim

Problem now solved. After replacing the rear flexi pipes and the problem remained I replaced the brake pressure regulator and all was well. First time in 35 years of mini /1100 ownership that one has failed. Celebrated getting the car back on the road going for a few pints in the local, on the real ale board was DOWNTON ALE ( Wiltshire) . Cheers Tim
