I'm looking to get a couple of rattle cans of paint mixed up for a few trim bits, but the paint shops tend to want the modern paint codes for the colours and don't recognise the BMC codes.

Does anyone know equivalent modern codes for Almond Green (GN 37) and Old English White (WT3)?

This seems to be impossible, I recently tried to get a similar can of paint for minor repairs to a flame red Mini, I even took a tin with the code on it, but apparently there is no cross reference between the old codes & the new ones. It can be done in many cases by giving the registration number of the car, which is how I nearly ended up with pale metallic blue patches on a flame red car. I had to take the car to the paint suppliers & they made up a can, but it didn't match by a mile! It might be a good idea to speak to someone at a local body shop specialising in classic cars, they are the most likely people to know the current codes.

I also found these paint codes, but they may be too modern and a different shade.

Rover HAK Almond Green. 1994 - 2000.

Rover NDB Old English White. 1971 - 1983.

It certainly can be done. I used to have access to one of the big paint firms code matching web site, it was great, you could search any colour by model, year, manufacturers code, you name it. It was a really useful resource.

However, after having registered, I had access to it for about 6 months then they mailed me to say that although I was always using their web site I never bought any paint & I was kicked off.

All you need to find is a paint supplier who is prepared to take a bit of time to find your code, and of course once you find one, stick with them!

Page 8 and 9 of the .pdf has the formulas...

I know they seem to be more paint codes, but they do at least appear to
be some kind of named "base" colours.

One more small thing: When I ordered paint code BU8 (Island Blue) and
WT3 (Old English White) from my local supplier, they needed to be looked up
as BU08 and WT03, ie zero padding to two digits...

So, yes, suppliers CAN find the right colours if you can find a decent supplier,
like these people...
