998 Cooper engine/gearbox...

I've come across a 998 engine / gearbox that looks promising.

The box is a 22A1288 with a 22G232 laygear and it looks to be in good shape... very little wear on the 1st. geat and/or laygear.

Can anyone enligthen me on whats so special with these boxes - are the ratois the same as the late B-type S' ? (from what I've found they both use same laygear..?)

The head is of the engine block and from what I could tell there are no ring-recessess in the top of the bores.... so they might be clear with a honing-job or +10 rebore... the 295 head will need a service. Engine no is: 9FD-SA-H2709 - can anyone tell me anything useful from that no.?
The mains are shot so the crank will need a regrind... is the Cooper crank much different then the regulare 998 item?

Lastly... I plan on selling this as I have no space nor need for it... any idea what such a unit is worth?
It comes complete with correct rockercover, flywheelhousing and remote control (less stick).. sadly no rockers, carbs or inlet.

Many thanks,

Seems like a late 998 Cooper engine. The gears are the same as 3 synchro B type S boxes. The crank is the same as 'normal' 998 units.

I'm pretty sure the 1288 box will fit under a 1300 engine unlike earlier 68 cases, and I have seen 998 cooper engines fitted with factory cross drilled cranks as well, which doesn't seem to be documented anywhere.
