Gearbox rebuild - any recommendations?

The gearbox in my 850 has had worn syncromesh on 2nd and 3rd since I got it, occasional annoying crunches on down changes only, becoming more frequent. The plan this winter is to whip the engine and box out and have the gearbox reconditioned and replace clutch, water pump, oil pump, timing chain etc on engine, as long as further work is not needed to bores, rings, big ends etc.
Is there any recommended specialists that members have experience of using? Seen ads for Guessworks and his website is pretty impressive, recon box around the £600 mark. Does this seem reasonable? Im in Northern Ireland so anyone this side of the pond any good?

Thanks in advance...

Other person I would recommend is Clarke McDonald of McDonald Minis, just outside Edinburgh. He's been fixing my gearboxes for over 20 years, and has many years of Mini experience. Can also work on auto boxes.

Contact details for Clarke are 0131 665 9889 or website at www.mcdonald-minis.co.uk
