Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to new material they would like to see on here or even better on the main MK1 site?

All suggestions are welcome & any decent ones will be incorporated in an up & coming re vamp of the site.

Also, I would very greatly appreciate any submissions of new material either articles, photos or images of memorabilia, brochures etc. that you think would fit in with the ethos of the site.

Maybe a section on the famous racing drivers of the 60's? Potentially an endless list but maybe the top rally winners and Championship winners. Much like the racing drivers section in Ryno's fantastic book.

one suggestion which may be worth considering would be to diversify a wee bit from the Mk1 Mini? I know that is the main focus, but it does say at the top that it is a forum for those with an interest in "the tuning & modification of classic BMC vehicles"

I'm thinking of a sub forum area for Minors, sprites, A40s etc - the small engined stuff, rather than MGBs and Magnettes etc

I suspect more than a few of us have at least a passing interest in these RWD cars as well, as did the tuning companies like Downton etc.

I'd also like to see a wee bit more Clubman stuff too.

Oh, and a cap on the prices of Mokes back to mid 1990's levels please . This recent sunshine makes me want one, and there's nae chance!

What about a photographic list of all the factory car colours and their codes, years used and on what models etc ?

There's already one for steering wheels, what about a period seat directory ?

What about a section for the mk1 Moke, elf, hornet, clubby/gt's, woodies, vans, pickup etc. Just a section for all mk1 mini derivatives. All these early model have details different to the later models that would be interesting to know and learn about.

I have a complete set of 1970's brochures covering Mk3s and Clubman derivatives. I also have almost a complete set of colour card from the 1970's and colour and trim sheets. Let me know if you are interested as I have most of them scanned.

How about a 'David Vizard' type mods section. Not a rehash of his books,but current best practices ? Plenty of room for debate !!

...as far as I,m concerned all cooper and s derivatives....its a perfect site with stuff on mk 2 and 3,s already.. then u could rename it mark @ mk1,2 and 3 mini, cooper and cooper s ..... tks in any event for re considering... rgds foxy52

When I get a chance I will try a few of the ideas out. I would be particularly interested in increasing the brochure archive to cover more models & variants & the paint parade sounds like a good idea, the main problem being that everyone screens look different. If however anyone could send me scans of early 70's brochures, paint chips etc. it would be much appreciated.

As far as sections for different BMC models, I assume this is in relation to the Forum, not the site. The General section has always been exactly that "general" where people are welcome to write more or less anything they want, this includes all other BMC & similar models. I would not be keen on making too many new sections to the Forum as these tend to reduce the number of visible posts & make people just head to their "specialist" section. This is what happens on the MCR forum, it gets lost of posts but as there are about a million different sections most people never see them.

Might be hard to do but what about a 'members discoveries/stories' section or similar - the kind of story like the excellent thread on Rachel's car? Could be memories from back in the day or recent / notable discoveries..?

I bet there's a wealth of interesting stuff available based this forums members!

Pandora, you beat me to it, I was about to mention the heading at the top of the page, I think we don't make enough mention of the contemporaries of the Mini, I have a great affection for most of the range of MG's & often work on a 1098 Midget. Morris Minors, also becoming as popular as they ever have been, one of my friends has recently bought 2 of them.
tintoptom, I would love to read more threads like the one about Rachel's car, that is fascinating stuff.

A simple one (I assume?) but perhaps it would be nice to brighten up the look of the forum pages a bit. I like the main blue colour, font size etc but it would be nice to have a better logo in the top left (rather than the phpbb one) and a bigger title etc - I think the older versions of the forum used a little cartoon Mk1 like in Marks avatar.

I think a sort of FAQ to the main changes in the MK1 would be very useful, such as the year in which Austin dropped the seven badge for the mini, the year the BMC intdouced new colors to the mk1, they year it BMC dropped he gray fleck, etc, some questions I've been seen posted every now and then.

More directories, how about one for period rocker covers another for speedo's?

I have a bit of a collection of mk1 speedos so would be happy to do some sort of directory for the forum. The only problem is that they are a bugger to photograph, so you might see my ugly mug reflected in the glass of all of them.
