Hi All
My new racer is almost complete and it will hope fully have its first run out at croft in August or if I cannot get it complete for then it will definitely be out for the gold cup at oulton.

This car has been a real challenge to get it this far with my work commitments and it is based on a january 1960 shell.

I hope it goes as well as it looks..

Hi ,

that came out nice 8-) but I noticed you also moved the gearlinkage inside, using the same universal joint, as I use to do.

I broke mine on a raceday, and didnt have a spare, so if you keep it, be sure to bring a spare.

I upgraded mine to the bigger/stronger type, that raceparts also sell.

Lovely build Barry, looking forward to the Gold Cup. To think that in the '60's I thought my Fiesta Yellow 850 SDL was so uncool, now I love the colour! :)

That looks great. I do hope you will get it to Croft as you can count on the support of the local MCR region.

Thanks surf.

Iam going to give it my best shot to get the car to croft, last time I was there we had a fantastic weekend and some good results with the smoke grey car. Hope fully I can get near the pace with the new car but it has been three years since I was last out racing but I can assure you iam not going to turn up just to fill the grid.

I will keep you posted as the final bits go on the car and the loom is installed.

That looks amazing.
I am nearly ready to send mine for paint and its going back to the original colour which is fiesta yellow. I also have a set of the M/S rosepetals with R7.

This is a big inspiration to get my finger out and get the shell off to paint.

Very nice.

Thanks Pete.

I have put a lot of effort into this car and as you know they are very time consuming to build them right.
I still have some more things to bolt to the car and I will post some more pics when it's completely finished. And then roll on Yorkshire.

This really is too nice a car to race, when I think about what happened to our car at the final HSCC meeting last season, watch out for low flying Anglia's and the Hillmanator.

I assume will be running in HSCC class D ?

Beautiful car! What were the rear quarter windows like to fit in those frames?
Cheers

The windows are fantastic quality from plastics 4 performance.
They fit really well and they are priced well.
The back frames have to be split to remove the glass and then just reverse the process and fit the Perspex. [/u]

Was this you at the Gold Cup in 2010? I remember this was one of the best present cars in the paddock that day.

I remember that car being featured in Mini Mag years ago! I used to use the article for inspiration when building my first racer!

They are both cracking cars - and a great inspiration for my MK1 style racer. Any more pics? What suspension/brakes are you running on the new car?
