Which are the best door mirrors for a mk1 ? that look good and can be used.
I was thinking about the raydyot replicas fitted to the glass hole or the classic tex mirrors mini mk3 style.
What do you think ?

I'm a fan of Vauxhall/Opel mirrors. They look good on any car, I guess
Anyway, don't fit the square TEX mirrors, they'r ust horrible looking (in my opinion)

I like the Raydyot type myself, but if you do use these you need to space them off the body to be most useful.

Can i space them and still fit them to the glass, because i like the idea of not drilling the door.

Mmm850, the Raydot replicas fit way better if you whip out the 8mm bolt they come fitted with and replace it with a smaller 6mm dia bolt. This allows them to go through the existing window catch and gives more usable adjustment for rear view.
Cheers Mark.

I drilled out the plastic to 8mm and it worked fine.
The drivers side worked fine as fitted, but I had so fit a spacer between the passenger one and the window as well as file out the adjustment slot to get a decent angle on it (the rim ended up almost touching the glass with the 5-10mm spacer in place) once I'd done that it gave a good view behind.
Interestignly, the rear view stayed pretty good with the windows slid back as well.

Everbody seems to like the raydot, any votes for the tex mirrors i use to have these on a mk3, they did there job very well but on a mk1 i am not sure about the looks, allthough i saw them on a lot of mk1's, what do you think ?

Hi, I have decided, and i have just ordered a pair polished raydyot replicas, so no holes to drill in the door and everything is reversable.

I like of course the "downton" style the best one to do the job.
But how about these :

Wow, i like the mirrors but not the price.
I have now ordered these, they look like the classic bullet and are made of aluminium.

How about the "Desmo" (replica I think) we have them on our race car, very light, they need a bit of filing of the bolt location to get the near side in the correct place. Simple, functional, the only one you should fit, think they look so '60's.
See Demon Tweaks catalogue if you can't find elsewhere.
