Hi i am currently doing a ground up full resto on a almond green /snowberry white mk2 cooper 998. The logbook states the colour as green as does the heritage cert . Whats peoples opinions on colour changing it to sandy beige / snowberry . Although i plan to keep it for a while i am also thinking about future value , will i devalue it ? Has anyone done the same and lost out or indeed found it harder to sell ? opinions appreciated

I don't think it's such a biggy to change colours on Mk2's due to the black trim but it's fair to say to go from Almond Green to Beige may well devalue it. Just my opinion of course and I'm sure you'll get another dozen completely opposite ones.

If it is being restored, it will be green. If you're just rebuilding it, you can paint it any colour you want.

I can't imagine too many buyers with beige on their wish list. Green on the other hand - much more desireable. You might just be devaluing it as well. I would paint it whatever colour you like if you plan to keep it but if planning on selling on then original is best.

I own a MK2 sdl which is a beautiful Sandy beige colour so my opinion is biased.
When bought 17 years ago, it was for the car not the colour. I have since gotten to like the colour and it always stands out from the crowd.
Both the Beige colours are a rare sight nowadays.

I like Sandy Beige with the white roof.. very nice.

Its your car so paint it whatever colour you like. It will be worth less then if painted its original Almond Green though. There is no doubt about that.

Its not a Green vs Beige thing.. they are just worth more if painted in the original colour.

A pal of mine has just restored a mk2 998 cooper for a customer. It came in as almond green, but after poking around we found bits of beige. After a few arguments over the original colour we agreed on sandy beige. We tried to convince the customer to keep it in it's original colour, to no avail, but did talk him out of fitting Alfa Romeo 2+2 seats though!

Personally i'd always go for the original colour.

..I agree to.. my sandy beige and snowberry white makes it a rare paint finish, i like it better than el paso...but as u say its pers choice.. i bought it that colour purely because i liked it...suppose ill always like browns having had a bedouin mk 3 s...i only ever saw 2 !!!!.....and though from time to time i think ill have a change to say island blue..i then come to my senses... !!! ...all colour schemes for mini coopers are nice,2 tone and period to the 60,s-70s..foxy52
