engine lifting brackets

Just a quick one.
Would the engine lifting brackets be left on the car after
It came out of the factory.bolted to the rocker cover.

I've certainly never seen them left on & I used to do pre-delivery inspections on brand new Minis years ago, also I'm sure the bonnet would not shut with them on. (Never really tried that!) They were left on Moggie Minors, Austin A30's & A35's.

No def not I remember a young lad at a garage I worked at years ago tried.

Young and foolish fitted them and slammed the bonnet down, you can guess what happened next :o
The best repairs go un-noticed

Observing film of Mini manufacture, engine lifting brackets were never fitted. The subframes were assembled with the engine installed and put on the track with the exhaust connected. The shell was then lowered onto the assemblies on the track
