CONTROVERSIAL AND NOT SO CONTROVERSIAL
Good evening all
First the controversial bit I have been offered around 400 old log books from the owner of an old scrap yard the majority of the are the old green and buff style and at the time there was no requirement to inform dvla if the car was scrapped so far I have found log books for
1961 austin seven deluxe,1971 morris mini 1000,1965 morris mini traveller,1964 and 1965 austin mini countryman
1961,1962,1963,3x1964, and 1967 min vans
My question is, is it illegal to sell these if not any idea of value
Now the not so controversial bit
Same man also hasfor sale some VL Churchill service tools those that I recognised were a radius arm reaming tool, and an early cast type suspension compressor,he thinks buried somewhere is a hydrolastic pump,
Regarding parts, unused lucas regulator box, 3x lucas alternators, boxes of champion spark plugs N3,N4,N5,BL97
Used badges mini-minor,austin,austin mini seven, also lots of old style AA badges and one plastic RAC badge
also a very nice small AA on a small badge bar along with a Automobile D,Italia FIA badge
Another friend has some racing 998 engine parts, Weber on manifold, 998 crankshaft tuftrided shotpeened and balanced,
lightened and balanced pre verto flywheel, Special Tuning forged pistons on modified Cooper rods plus various other parts cams, oil pumps etc
If it doesnt break any rules please pmme to discuss prices as I am only acting as broker and if the log book issue is controversial please remove this post
Thank you Graham

Re: CONTROVERSIAL AND NOT SO CONTROVERSIAL
As I understand it, the sale of logbooks / chassis plates etc for which there is no actual vehicle is a criminal offence - it is in effect 'ringing' and the consequences are likely to involve a certain amout of nervousness in the showers..........
Some people do collect the green log books as 'automobilia', but recycling them onto other cars is illegal, so,
Moderator hat on: I won't remove the post at this stage, as the other elements will be of interest
BUT........
Please guys, no buying hooky 'tax free' identities to stick on a 1992 Cooper.

Re: CONTROVERSIAL AND NOT SO CONTROVERSIAL
Sorry, what I meant was perhaps better described as that buying them and putting them to use on another car is an offence. Their sale as automobilia is OK, as I said.
whatever, it is (as the original post notes) a controversial area, so we must make sure there is nothing untoward advocated on the forum

Re: CONTROVERSIAL AND NOT SO CONTROVERSIAL
I remember a similar amount at an autojumble. The bloke wanted £40 for all of them (a 4" wad) Unless you wanted some "easy numbers" it was overpriced. If you read the small print, the document is property of DVLA. Is it legal to sell other people's property? Also, have a read of the small print on your own V5 documents and then think before you do anything outside of what they were originally meant for. We shall assume for the case of argument that the old green ones haven't all of a sudden been publicly gifted to the owners. All it would take is someone bothered enough to point at the legislation and enforce it.
I am surprised that ebay have not had a spank from the government over stuff being sold on their site.
I remember that autojumble. There was a lotus twin cam (2 webers model) which was a shed find for £300. He also had a fully worked 1760 crossflow for £150. I thought they were shabby and overpriced!

Re: CONTROVERSIAL AND NOT SO CONTROVERSIAL
I was wondering what a Kerry Capitano looked like
Google, of course, thought I wanted to look at Kerry Katona
Looking at them, I wouldn't want to ride either

It does not say that on an RF60 (which is what the OP mentioned he had been offered) as the DVLA still did not exist in the days of the last revision of the RF60.If you read the small print, the document is property of DVLA.
