Does anyone have any words of wisdom as to how to seal the cap..

After multiple attempts at making seals from cork, rubber and gasket paper (including some shop made fibre washers ..and reinforcing these with steel and alloy washers I have not been able to seal the cap onto the (Mk I style) cylinder. As soon as I apply pressure (tyre inflated to around 7psi) fluid wells up where the tube enters the cap.

Anyone have any hints??????

My old 1 got binned as it just wouldn't seal the replacement has been fine,my mate leant 1 last week to another mate and told him how to safely use it and to read the instructions ......50psi =1 blown up bottle and him covered in brake fluid very little sympathy and much merriment

I've drilled a normal master cylinder nylon cap and put the tubes through that. Makes it much easier to get the cap on and off the master cylinder as well.

I have done the same as Simon, this method seals perfectly.

Don't use tyres if you can help it. If you use have a compressor instead set it at one or two psi and it will have less chance of leaking

I actually use the Oxygen from the Oxy set. It's fairly dry air, everything else has a fair bit of moisture in it, not a good idea to mix with most brake fluids.

I don't know what pressure I use, as the gauge won't go that low, but just so that it's flowing.

Noting that the lid of the plastic type is double walled (yes i know the top comes off - but the inside is "tapered"). Any chance of a photo or drawing of the sealing arrangement??

works fine without the seal , just tighten it up, and run a little bit below the max pressure
