The Newcastle & Durham Region of the Mini Cooper Register are proud to announce that this years' Northumberland Borders Rally will take place on Saturday the 23rd of November.

It will once again use the classic lanes on OS maps 81 (Alnwick and Morpeth) and 88 (Newcastle-upon-Tyne), with a start and a finish close to Morpeth, just to the north of Newcastle.

In a change to previous years however, it will feature a few daytime regularites and around half a dozen special tests, as well as the traditional evening road navigational sections, giving a total competitive mileage of c.120 miles.

For genuine novice crews, looking to gain valuable experience before moving onto higher status events like the Borders, there will again be the Tynedale 12-car Rally. Crews on this will also have the opportunity to do the regularities and tests but the competitive mileage will be in the region of 90 miles.

Regulations for both events will be out on the 1st of August, with the usual discounts on offer for fully paid up members of the MCR.

We look forward to welcoming MK1 forum members on the day. 8-)

Did some setting out for the tests on this event yesterday (using coloured balloons as a substitute for the cones) then needed to have a drive round to check that everything was OK ;) ;)

To confirm, regulations are now available for the sixth running of this event taking place on Saturday 23rd November this year.

Supported by YBracing and Heighley Gate Garden Centre it will feature:

- a 120 mile route in Northumberland on OS maps 81 and 88
- around half a dozen special tests and some pain free regularities
- a start and finish near Morpeth, just to the north of Newcastle
- a 90 mile event for novices, the Tynedale Rally, that will run to a similar format to the borders but for which no competition licence will be required
- straightforward PnB navigation that is kept very simple for less experienced crews

Entries are again restricted to classic mini saloons only but open to members of selected MSA member clubs, including those from the Historic Rally Car Register.

We look forward to welcoming competitors old and new.

Thats a shame! I'll have to stiffen up the suspension now!

Following last years comments, I've fitted a new exhaust just for you ;-) (knowing my luck it'll be louder!)

Oops..just been reminded by my co-organiser (cheers Dave :x ) that there is still one short section of white on the event    although i'm not sure it's the exhaust wrecker that you're hoping for Graeme!

Cheers, Niall.

At the price of Maniflow's finest I don't want it wrecked!
Smooth whites are always fun though.
