Stanford Hall

Post by coopertim »

Hi all

Are there many of us going to Stanford Hall tomorrow? I will be there looking really out of place in a Mondeo!!!

It would be good to put a few faces to names as i am looking round the stalls for bits and bobs!

Cheers. Tim.

yep, i went too in the flying banana - my audi tow car, spent more on fuel than on the stands but enjoyed the day.
Some of the concours lot are getting a bit OTT :?

I was down there with the Innocenti Mini lot, a great show as always and managed to find one or two bits in the jumble.

You're right about the concourse, what was going on with that one in the masterclass sat on a load of bling?

there was at least one parked in the car park.......... 8-)

its probabley the best show ive been to for ages for the quality and quantity of 'good' stuff that traders had - not asking or looking at prices, i saw a nos mk1 side, a nos elf front panel (on nicks stand), nos mk1 dash panels, etc etc - with a van and a bundle of cash it would have been easy to fill it!

i didnt stay long as my legs had had enough after three laps and it was a bit to hot in the sun

the concours is a joke - wtf is the deal with awanings to put over the cars, and a specially made 'show cradle' to stick a trailer queen mpi is laughable - do these people ever actually drive and use the cars?

ive also decided that if kay dreary is ever seen to smile the world will probably end....god she is miserable, as a reresentative of mini world you think she would look happy and interact with punters a bit more!
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

Had a great time, I was with the Innocenti mini lot, and Mr Andy.B. I picked up some good items, though a few were already arranged. Nice to put a few faces to names even off this forum. And think we were lucky witht the weather.

I was wandering round with Rich & like him had a great time meeting folks & looking at some surprisingly nice cars & associated gear. It never ceases to amaze me how Stanford Hall always brings out the best bits, some of which are at very reasonable prices.

Due to a last minute change of plan I didn't go in the Sprint (much to Rich's annoyance) as I had a beautifully restored pair of Restalls to pick up from Gareth ( viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39 ). I will be posting some pictures in the next few days. But suffice to say they are staggeringly good & are now held together with all the correct clips etc. Truly a work of art. I also deposited a set off Microcells that are going to receive the same treatment.

As far as cars are concerned. There were of course some crackers there. Simon Wheatcrofts 1960 clipper blue car is always one of my favourites less than 4,000 miles from new and absolutely perfect in every way!

We skirted round the concourse having a not to subtle laugh at the trailer tarts, with the odd exception like Bill Akasters beautifully restored Downton Cooper. But I was a little disappointed by the lack of early cars in general on the club stands.

Oh & my final observation was (as usual) why did the organisers bother with the stupid fancy dress theme. I did however never fail to be amused by the chubby nurses in PVC uniforms that were occasionally to be seen teetering through the mud in their high heels.

All in all a cracking day. Rich must have been giving it some on the way home as he left about 2 or 3 minutes before us, I was doing well over a ton up the M1 expecting to catch him up, but no chance. . . . . he was gone!

My first visit to Stanford Hall. Good to see both Rich and yourself again Mark.
Thanks Bart and Ian for the subframes and It was also a pleasant suprise to bump into Oliver again. I was impressed with the amount of goodies on the stalls. Some nice cars on display and the weather wasn't bad either.

Cheers: Chris.

Seems to have been quite a few people at Stanford who post on here, plenty of us Northerners too.

Spotted Paul Lips but didn't manage to speak to him, I assume he was over here for Beauliuiuiue too.

Yeh was a few off here, had a chat with Paul Lips, also had a chat with bart, but was nice to finally meet up with Toby. Was happy to pick up my new set of fzd's off Ian. And some bits of Nick. Think next year, might have to take the other mini.

I managed to avoid everyone it seems. Although I did also collect up a pair of seats, Spanish blue and fleck for my woody project, as purchased off this very forum. very pleased.

Luckily I took very little cash with me, as the Alexander 7 port was winking at me everytime I walked past the stand.

Had a nice quick visit too. Just missed Mark and Rich but that was probably due to me being rather late: very last one to get off the ferry, fully checked by customs and took a wrong exit because of all that but still got there and back by doing 90-95 in the Volvo of which the throttle decided not to work properly anymore - it was either full or nothing. Nevertheless, a very nice day, meeting a lot of friends again but next time it won't be a single-day visit to the UK anymore but a longer stay ...
Too many cars...

Kin hell, and we used to pay a quid to get in the concourse just to have somewhere nice to park our cars, they were usually covered in shit ! How times change ! You could make a bomb selling OCD self help CD's on there by the sounds of it.
