I try to make a replica monte carlo.
and I would put one in my dash, but I do not know what it is.

I posted a picture on your 'works bible' post - directly underneath the more common TOK switch

It is just a 4 position rotary switch used on machinery or something in the early 60's - they were used in only a very few works cars for a short period of time, I think the TOK switch was the more familiar switch used in most of the works cars

There are a few on ebay at the moment or I may be persuaded to part with the one I have

sounds like you have to many poles - all these switches are wired up differently, you need a live in , earth, then 3 switched lives for a monte type screen (which is split into right side, left side or both sides, and a multi meter and im sfraid youll just have to figure things out.

I see some of the works cars labelled up 1/4 power, 1/2 power and full power which confuses me to think the switch could control how much power the screen got but all the tok and stanton switches ive ever seen did not have rheostats in them

I think the company that made the TOK switches was bought by the Santon people. So a Santon switch would be a slightly more up to date TOK switch. As for wiring.........like you say 'a works wonder'.

No so, TOK were bought out by Burgess switches. Really not sure where the Stanton switch fits into this in time.

R=V/I the original screens have 3 wires and 4 resistances(2 each side) if you study the silver strips you will see the breaks in the contact strips 1/4 power is power in one side earth the other approx 2.36A, full power is power in both sides approx 10A, 1/2 power(drivers side) is power in drivers side approx 4.66A. it's not that hard is it Ohh original Triplex screen.
