Wonder if anyone can shed some light on which Aldon (or other electronic distributor) would be best for my Mk1-alike Mini. It's running a 998 A+ unit with a Minispares Stage 1 kit. Car is 1987 and engine is the original. There seem to be quite a few on the market and I want to make sure I get the right one at the right price.

As for me, the best dizzy for your car, is the aldon yellow with vacuum, or without vacuum if you will put a more powerful with a rally cam and a higher compression ratio

Hi folks - same question as before, but instead I'll be fitting to a 1293 unit from an MG 1300 with stage 1 kit fitted. Any suggestions?

if your wanting a 'lucas look' dizzy, but with electronic ignitions, then the csi one is a good bet.

ive just put on of these on a car and it looks and works great.

its easy to choose the different advance curves in it and as it looks standard (bar the extra red wire to the coil) its perfect for period cars

As for me you should use the aldon yellow dizzy without vacuum

As for me it is the best dizzy for fast road use up to 296 cam

I hate CSI and 123 dizzy!!

Thanks lads - I was looking at the Aldon on the Minispares site and pretty much set my mind to get it. I'm not one for bonnets open at shows so not a bit worried if the car doesn't look standard. Will look at the CSI one aswell to compare.

I'd strongly suggest that you contact Aldon and seek their advice on which dissy they'd recommend suits you engine

+ 1 on the CSI, great bit of kit and while dearer than the Aldon, you'd be able to better taylor it to your requirements.

These are electronic, similar to the 123 Ignition jobby, only the CSI has curves better suited to the A series Engine and it's cheaper than a 123.

So 'tweak away' - great i'll have to research. I've never understood this 'one size fits all' = yellow aldon.

this is the reason I went for a csi this time, normally I buy a new aldon, a new electronic kit and then send it away to get mapped to my engine - the csi was cheaper than this and I can fiddle with it to my hearts content

choosing the different advance curves is really easy (or would be if it was in mini, its an absolute arse in the gtm!)


the big advantage of the csi over the 123 (bar the original look of the body) is that it uses the standard cheap lucas caps, the 123 uses a bosch cap which is quite expensive to replace

very happy with my swiftune csi also, far better on my engine than the aldon yellow i have before,
