Restall Contour 6

Hello chaps,
With few spare time for the cars, I am contemplating concentrating on small jobs and for example repairing my Microcell Contour 6 bucket seat. I can do that while chating / playing with the kids.
I am not a specialist, but I thought at first this seat to be a Contour 6. It however looks more lightweight than others. It is covered with plain red vinyl, as is the piping. It looks better in pictures than in real.
I basically need to repair a few vinyl cracks, replace the foam and the ubiquitous rubber straps. Only the base cover is largely cracked in two places, and the repair might be a bit more difficult than on other places. Most notably for the cracks in the stitching. If I restitch it, the cover will be smaller and might be too "tensed" over the foam - sorry for my English, hope you understand me.
I am looking for an advice :
Am I wrong to think that a few of those buckets seats were available in red AND GOLD BROCADE ?
You know where I am going, and yes Pete, that is the Gold Brocade material you are thinking about.
I am not too sure yet however, as :
- the back in in almost perfect fit, minus a few cracks where a headrest was adapted in the day,
- the stitching is different to the BMC red/gold brocade seats of my S
I remember I saw at least one of those red/gold brocade bucket seats in the flesh in the past, and we can clearly see one in the DVD sponsored by the MCR and launched last year.
What do you know ? What would you do ?
Etienne
PS : I have Leverol runners for this.
