Loom for Dry 'S'

Hi. I need to get a new wiring loom for my 64 Dry S. I've looked on minispares and found the 'mk1 S with dynamo loom' and looked on autosparks site and found similar. As far as I know the minispares looms are from autosparks anyway.
My question is, the dry car has the control box mounted in a different position to the hydro cars. The wires to the box would have to be a little longer. Has anyone fitted this loom to their dry car with control box mounted on the cross member below the bulk head and if so did it fit OK ?
I e-mailed autosparks and asked if it would fit. After several days I got a reply 'just order the one for the 1098cc you will be fine'
This didn't install much confidence as my car is a 1071 which I had told them.
Any help welcome

I'm guessing you're in UK. We have a company (Vinwire) here (Aust) who make looms. I have fixed them up with our local Factory Drawings and so they can make them to about 95 to 100% correct / original (some of the connectors maybe NLA). They can also do any modifications required. Maybe there is a firm in the UK who does something similar?

I had the same problem with that loom on a 64 dry S, and ended up twisting the control box so that the wires fitted. Not exactly what you want on a show car but my car was a race car so it didnt really matter that much
Your right what you say about the headlight wiring as well, some of the aftermarket stuff is a bit naff.

Thanks for the replies.
Spider, I'm in New Zealand so not so far from you
Bit frustrating when things aren't quite advertised correctly. I know if I get the '1098cc' version which the Autosparks lady told me will be wrong. Then its like 40 pounds to courier back for replacement (after paying the whopping 50 pounds to get it here in the 1st place) it soon ads up!

i noted this problem when building my dry S replica.
I had a NOS genuine Mk1 Cooper loom and in the end decided to buy the correct wires and terminals from Autosparks and made a short extension loom.
OK, not quite correct, but it was a cheap fix and it is only a replica after all

simple answer, the headlamp looms are not part of the main loom, so are not supplied
i guess 'in period' they where pre fitted to the headlamp bowls, so came as part of that part.
you will be wanting the back lights and the plugs leads included next...

Other wires that are not included are the door switch crossover wire, dipswitch wire (although when I rang they said that was an error and sent one foc) and also I recall athe green wire from the voltage stabalizer to ? but easy enough to do it would be nice to know what is or is not included. I for one can say the service I have had from Autosparks is excellent.

Autosparks do a loom for a dry 1071 S and I bought one of these a couple of years ago. It has the correct extra-length wires for the regulator and fitted fine. The only issue is that the version which they currently produce has all-pvc wiring rather than the original braided and pvc mix, although with the correct braided outer covering. I recently asked them about producing a loom with with braided wiring and and was advised that there was no reason why they couldn't do one so I might speak to them again about this again - particularly if anyone else needs one too.

Nick I need one too for my 63 1071, so we might be able to get a couple of them ordered to keep the price down?

the voltage one is normally braided into the loom, you just tug it and the little bit of wire with the two spade terminals slithers out
the dip switch bit is part of the loom.
i can second the service of autosparks - they are a great company

If you have a word with autosparks ive found them to be vey helpfull. They made me a one off loom for a mk 1 s , with alternator , and wired all the dash lights etc so i could fit a 6 dial innocenti dash . They included all the bulb holders and also wired it for the rev counter as well . Its for one of my projects that i still havnt finished .
