I have two doubleskin Mk2 bootlids that look very different...

Does anyone know if they changed the outer skin on the lids at some point in the production? (if so when) or is this an odd one of that might have been reskinned or something...

Funny thing is that the "Mk3-type" skin looks to also have the correct holes for the licenseplate.. i.e the rubberbuffers and hinges..

It's a double skin lid... I was under the impression that they were only on the Mk2??

I've seen some 1970 cars with the double skinned Mk3 boot lids.

Yes early Mk3 bootlids had the Mk2 box section inner skin, never seen a Mk2 car fitted with one ?

I read that the last runs of mk2 S’s had quite a hotch potch of mk2 and mk3 bits, skuttles, boot lids etc. but no first hand knowledge.

The MK2 / MK3 hybrid boot lid is something I have seen a few times. It does look like it was fitted to some cars from the factory. The other one is by far the most common & what would be considered to be the "Correct" one though.

If your MK2 is a VERY, VERY Late production one, I'd be tempted to use the hybrid one, but otherwise stick to the "normal" one.
