I am going to have a go at fitting the door Apex panel and doorstep as a sub assembly. Just wandered if anyone has experience of doing this and where there unforeseen probs.

I've not done that job that way before, but that's not to say I will not do it in the future.
I suppose it depends on how good / straight the shell is to begin with and if you have good shut lines to work to.
The early MK 1 / 2 sides were supplied complete with the outer apex panel already attached ie; pressed as one, so in essence, you are only replicating what was done in the Mini body shop, but on a smaller scale.
Remember, measure twice, cut once.
Good job on repairing the doors by the way.

Cheers. I will post some pics of fitting it if I get in the garage in the near future.

Seems to be in the right parish. I am tempted to weld new boxing plates to it before fitting.

Cheers, I tried a Heritage inner up against them and they match perfectly.
