mini chrome bonnet ridge cover???

Hi all.

My dad used to own a mini when he was younger and he told me that the bonnet ridge (that goes up the middle of the bonnet) had a chrome cover on it (I take it he means similar to wolseley hornets)

I have never seen one or even a picture of one, but have chatted to some older mini folk who said you could get them for some of the early minis and are very rare.

Now this is in Australia...... but did the UK have something similar for the mini, and would someone have a photo or two to show me.

They were available as an accessory but I don't think they were a factory fitment on any UK model. Sorry, I can't recall who made/sold them now.

I thought that may have been the case about it being an aftermarket accessory, Does anyone have a picture??

my old white november 59 car,(,which sombody on the 1959 miniregister now owns) had evidence of drillings for an aftermarket chrome strip up the bonnet - centre and the second owner changed the bonnet but kept the original,

i still have the bonnet if anybody wants measurements for the hole spacings????




if they can find the elusive trim......

the radford hatch back that iam restoring has this chrome strip i will take a photo over the christmas period and post it, brian.

I have seen some : Nicolas Pinon in France has a surf blue Seven which sports one.

Brian's one is much longer than the one you could see on the surf Seven.
So it appears different variants were available at some time.

Well... as the nun said to the bishop, I've never seen one of those before ! Did Radford list that as an option ?

hi pete not sure if it is a radford item but it came with the car.but it looks very nice.

Thats what i was after.... Thankyou for the picture. I showed my dad and he said that was what his mini had.

I think finding one would be a lost cause, but i will will keep an eye out.

That looks very much like a body strip of a mk2 jag adapted for a mini bonnet ridge to me.. Is it attached with special riverts? Looks good, it's a nice touch.

hi the strip is held on the same as the side stripes thay are held on by little clip that is riveted on then the strip just clips on hope that
