Hi , i would like your thoughts on this . I have a morris cooper s mk1 manufactured in the last 2 weeks of morris production for a mk1 s . Its vey late 67 but not sold until 68 so on a G plate . Matching numbers car , heritage cert etc . My question is this , it has a 1522 gearbox 3 sync witch the previous owner says was the original , a 130 mph speedo , non piano hinge rear quarter windows . I am now starting a ground up resto but not to sure what gearbox to use , i do have a 333 gearbox casing on the shelf that i could use . Is it possible for it to have had a 1522 when built , and a 130 speedo ?

As far as I know Mk1'S' = 22g333 and Mk2 (early 3-synchro) = 1522
This is not well documented, and as per usual with mini production cut-overs there are areas of grey.
Late Mk1's had the stainless rear 3/4 windows as per Mk2,that is a 'known'.
Watch this space,(I want to know as well !) ...

I would say a 1522 is right on a late car .

I concur, There is no reason why the 1522 case & the 130mph speedo shouldn't be correct for a really late MK1.

Indeed,we're all still waiting for the new testament. Don't hold your breath. I think England will win the World Cup before it
emerges !!
