M Machine (Mini machine)

Post by Vegard »

I've been searching the web for some steel and ended up here:

http://www.m-machine-metals.co.uk/mm/website/index.html

I didn't know that M-machine also had a ig ol' machine shop. Good to know ;)

I know this is in the reccomended section, and I haven't used their services, but they look old fashioned and cool :)

Mini Machine ?? if its the same bloke called Andy still running it, I remember Nick Vortz used to recon he was a pretty smart guy when he started Mini Machine, recommended him then as 'someone with a brain', always remembered that statement forcibly put when somebody questioned this Andy's abilities. Nick Vortz didn't mince his words.

Yup, same company. Andy & Pete got into large scale model steam engines some years ago & they now have an active model engineering side of the business too.

m-machine are one of those companies that we all should be thankful for,

without their efforts restoration of many mark ones would still be done with flat bits of tin and filler
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

Yes they have some good products and are "vital to us".... BUT;

Wish i could say the same about their e-mail "support";

I've sent the same mail twice in 3 weeks, and received receipt from them that they have infact read it- but still no answer to my question... (which would probably take shorter time than reading the mail in the first place!)

If you're not gonna bother to reply to e-mails then why the frak advertise with it in the first place!?!?? ARRGGHH! :x :x

That's a standing joke over here when it comes to companies in England....why list an email address if nobody seems to monitor it? I've had plenty of e-mails never get responded to from English companies, but the ones that seem even more puzzling are the ones where you get a response 3-4 weeks later.

It can be a real pain to call when you're 8 hours different, so you either have to stay up late, or call first thing in the morning, and get "well, we're just closing up, so I'll have a look tomorrow". :roll:

Hi

Thats a fair point - Indeed we get circa 200 - 250 emails a week to be answered by 2 of us whilst trying to do work as well - I always think if someone is sat there watching emails come in and answering them right away then they cant be that busy - and if there not busy,then they aint got no work, If they aint got work then they aint got no customers, if they aint got no customers then something is seriously wrong with them............

Give them a call - there old fashioned and love a natter :lol:

Very rapid response to a general enquiry via email.

Asking for differences between several parts and received photos via email.

Very impressed.

While we're on M-Machine has anyone had any recent experience of their MK1 rear quarters?

I have an upcoming project which currently has no quarters at all so I need the full panel as the old 'cut the front off a Heritage panel' trick won't work.
