can any of you guys get the compound changed on the repro engine mounts??
they are way too hard and not just me has the problem......
can whoever makes them soften these up for us guys who like a bit of a "quiet drive"
mite as well convert to solid mounts,.,,they really are that bad and have been pretty auful for at least ten yrs now
the repro mounts for my wolseley 1500 are the correct hardness,,and the sprite and mg boys all seem happy..##
i know its a lot to ask but i know im not the only one with issues with these
are there other alternatives?

This is the sort of issue that should be addressed to Minispares direct.
Although Rich works for Minispares he is NOT their "official" representative on this or any other forum.

the shore hardness of the repro rubber mounts we stock is the same as the new genuine rover branded mounts we stock AND the same as an old rover era one we have as a sample............
ive never heard of people having an issue of mounts been toO hard, the normal complaint is that the rubber degrades too fast in the cheap ones and they become very soft.
oddly, if harder mounts where avalible, and marketed as such, im sure peole would buy them as a alternative to the race use only solid mounts.....

Shore hardness is for sure a good first indicator of the rubber properties.
However for harshness it is the first part of the shear compression curve which matters.
If this first part of the shear compression curve is too steep (stiff) it will transmit vibrations more.
Not taking into account the rubber loss factor, which is a kind of internal damping property.
I will be the first to admit that rubbers, their cross linking systems and the temperature of the steel parts during curing are kind of complex black eye science.

can guru point me in the right direction of the correct mounts he is on about,,they do a few and some of the wording is confusing,,well i am a northerner,cut me some slack
